(Capsicum annuum) Shishito Sweet Peppers are a popular Japanese variety that produce plenty of 3-inch, slightly wrinkled pods. They are usually emerald green, maturing to red, and have a mild flavor with little heat—only about 10% may develop some spiciness. Commonly eaten green and grilled or charred, shishito peppers make an excellent side dish and are rich in fiber and vitamins B, C, and K. These peppers are open-pollinated, non-GMO, and heirloom.
