(Capsicum chinense) The Hot Yellow Scotch Bonnet Pepper from Trinidad and Tobago is known for its intense heat (100,000–350,000 Scoville units) and smoky, fruity flavor. Ideal for eating fresh, stuffing, or making pepper flakes, the plant grows 2–4 feet tall and produces many firm, bonnet-shaped peppers that ripen from lime green to yellow. These crunchy pods are great for containers and are similar in shape and texture to habaneros.
Genus: Capsicum.
Type: Open-pollinated, non-GMO, Heirloom.
Origin: Originates from the Amazon Basin region of Central and South America, but its cultivation and popularity are most strongly associated with Jamaica and the Caribbean.
