(Capsicum chinense) The Reaper is a bright red pepper with a bumpy texture, small, pointed tail, and pods measuring 1–2 inches long and about 1 inch wide. Its flavor starts sweet and fruity with hints of tropical fruit, peach, and apple, quickly overtaken by intense heat. It rates around 1.6 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU), sometimes exceeding 2.2 million SHU.
